U coefficient calculator
What the calculator serves for
and how it works
This device is to enable calculation of a U coefficient of the thermal insulation of the walls in a building. In other words, it helps to determine how much heat will go through the walls, floors, roofs, and foundation walls, and if such loss is within the norm indicated by construction regulations.
In order to calculate the U coefficient, go through each box, choosing an adequate option for each one, and confirm your choices by clicking the âCalculateâ button. The result will be marked in green if the calculated coefficient is within the norm.
What a U coefficient is
and what its proper value is
Heat transfer coefficient (U) indicates the amount of heat energy in watts that is transferred through 1 square meter of a wall, provided that the temperature difference between the two sides of the wall equals 1 kelvin.
The higher the coefficient, the less energy is lost. Its value is mostly up to the type and thickness of the material used, where the minimal value is indicated in the regulations of the Minister of Infrastructure.
